Restaurant & Commercial Kitchen Flooring in San Francisco
Slip-resistant, health-code-compliant flooring installed after hours so you do not miss a shift.
Why Peacock for Restaurant & Kitchen Flooring
Restaurant and kitchen flooring is unforgiving. Grease, water, dropped cookware, and constant foot traffic chew through anything that was not engineered for the environment. On top of that, the SF Department of Public Health expects specific finishes, slope, and drainage. The wrong material is a failed inspection, and a closed kitchen is a closed restaurant.
We have installed flooring in SF restaurants, hotel kitchens, school cafeterias, and food service facilities for over four decades. We know the materials that pass inspection, the substrates that hold up over time, and the prep work that keeps water moving toward the drain instead of pooling under the line.
Schedule matters as much as material. We install at night, between shifts, or on a single closed day so the kitchen is back online before the next service. Our crews show up with the right tools, the right disposal plan, and the right communication so the kitchen team is not guessing.

Peacock retiled our entire kitchen on a single closed Monday. Quarry tile, new drains, passed inspection that week. We were serving dinner service Tuesday like nothing happened.— SF Restaurant Operations Manager

What flooring meets SF Department of Public Health requirements for commercial kitchens?
Heat-welded sheet vinyl or quarry tile with integral cove base are the most commonly accepted assemblies for SF commercial kitchen back-of-house. We confirm the product, base detail, and slope-to-drain with the operator and inspector before scoping the job.
Can you install kitchen flooring without shutting down service?
Yes for phased and after-hours work. We can isolate a station or zone, install overnight, and reopen for the next service. Full kitchen replacement still needs a closure window because adhesive cure and weld cool-down dictate when foot traffic and equipment can return.
How long does a restaurant kitchen floor replacement take?
A back-of-house kitchen of around 800 to 1,500 square feet typically runs three to five overnights for demo, prep, welded vinyl install, and cove. Tile installs run longer because of mortar set and grout cure.
Do you provide slip-resistant flooring for kitchens?
Yes. We specify safety vinyl and slip-resistant tile lines with appropriate DCOF ratings for wet kitchen environments and pair them with the correct cleaning protocol so the slip-resistance holds up over time.
Do you handle floor drains, trench drains, and slope?
We coordinate around existing drains and slope and can flag substrate issues before install. Re-sloping or trench-drain modification is a plumbing scope we coordinate with the GC or operator rather than self-perform.
